The Hague Apostille Convention is an international treaty that simplifies the process of legalizing public documents for use in foreign countries that are members of the convention. An Apostille is a standardized certificate issued by a designated authority that authenticates a document's origin, such as the signature or seal. By accepting documents with an Apostille, member countries eliminate the need for further complex legalization processes through embassies or consulates, making cross-border document use much easier.

Non-Hague Apostille Countries
♦Countries who are NOT members of the Hague Apostille Convention DO NOT issue or accept Apostilles.
♦In place of an Apostille you receive a State of Florida Authentication Certificate (easy to obtain using our Florida Authentication Certificate submission service).
♦Once you have received the State of Florida Authentication Certificate, the U.S. Department of State must authenticate the Florida Authentication Certificate and legalization by the Embassy of the non-Hague Country is required. The two steps:
Step One: U.S. Department of State Authentication: You must send your document, with the State of Florida Authentication Certificate, to the U.S. Department of State Authentications Office in Washington, D.C.. Follow this link to visit the U.S. Department of State Authentication website.
Step Two: Embassy Legalization: After the U.S. Department of State authenticates the document, it must be submitted to the Embassy of the non-Hague Country in Washington, D.C., for final legalization (also known as attestation). The U.S. Department of State charges a fee of $20 for the authentication of a document that will be used abroad. Some countries have very high embassy legalization fees, potentially ranging from $50 to over $600, depending on the document type and country. It is advisable to check the specific requirements and any potential fees on the official websites of the U.S. Department of State and the
Embassy list of the specific non-Hague Country in Washington, D.C.
